Love Reflections from the Shoreline.
The tides rise and fall. The winds change. The shoreline shifts every day, sometimes subtly, sometimes in great sweeps. But in the midst of all that motion, there are things that hold steady.
When I think of love, not the whirlwind, not the chase, but real love, I think of an anchor.
Not something that holds you back, but something that holds you safe.
The kind of bond that doesn’t bind, it steadies.
The kind of person who doesn’t cage you, they calm you.
A connection that allows you to drift, to explore, to grow… because you know you’re not untethered.
And that, I’ve learned, is the love worth waiting for.
In life, we often search for freedom, but freedom without grounding can turn into chaos. The deeper gift is finding something that supports you while you stretch. A purpose, a partner, a place within yourself that feels like home, even when everything else is moving.
To be anchored is not to be stuck.
It’s to be held.
As women, we’re often the anchors for our children, partners and others. But part of the journey is learning to receive that kind of grounding too. To allow yourself to be supported. To let love be a safety, not a sacrifice.
As a mother, I’ve been the anchor.
But I’ve also needed one.
And real love shows up with both hands open.
He doesn’t hold me down.
He holds me close.
There’s no leash, no limit, no control.
Just presence. Just steadiness. Just a quiet kind of knowing,
That I am not alone in this vast sea.
