Treasure Island is among the beautiful and fun beaches along the St. Pete Beach coastline. It is a section of the city that has been a tourist hotspot for a long time, and some of the hotels and beach rentals show the age! But that is part of the charm of this island. These retro hotels give an old Florida feel with plenty of activities for the family and lots of fun spots for drinking and dining.

The area features both old and new with a boardwalk that runs along the backs of the beachside hotels and rentals.

The Beach at Treasure Island

As you step onto Treasure Island’s beach, the first thing that strikes you is the vastness of the shoreline. The sand stretches out as far as you can see, offering plenty of space to claim your own little piece of paradise. There’s something about the wide expanse that makes you feel free, almost like you have your own private beach.

The sand is powdery white and soft, inviting you to kick off your flip-flops and go for a walk. It’s the kind of beach that begs you to wander along the shore, with your feet in the water, collecting shells, or just enjoying the gentle waves washing over your toes. It’s peaceful, yet full of life, with the occasional seagull flies overhead, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a dolphin playing out in the water.

The Water: Clear, Warm, and Inviting

The waters of the Gulf of Mexico are incredibly inviting here. They’re clear and warm, perfect for a refreshing swim or just floating on a raft, letting the gentle current carry you. I’ve always found the waters off Treasure Island to be calmer compared to other beaches, which makes it ideal for families with kids or anyone who just wants to float without being knocked over by waves.

A Mix of Adventure and Relaxation

One of the best things about Treasure Island is the laid-back, small-town vibe. People are friendly and relaxed, and it’s not unusual to strike up a conversation with fellow beachgoers or locals, sharing tips on the best places to grab a drink or watch the sunset.

For those looking to mix in a little adventure, Treasure Island has plenty to offer beyond the beach. One of my favorite spots nearby is John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk. It’s a lively spot with quaint shops, seafood restaurants, and opportunities to book fishing charters or dolphin-watching tours. The contrast between the quiet beach and the energetic atmosphere of John’s Pass gives the day a nice balance of relaxation and excitement.

From the wide-open beaches to the stunning sunsets, this little stretch of sand and sea on St. Pete Beach has a way of slowing down time and reminding you to savor every moment.
