Walk in the Sand

Patti Jewel aka “Beach Jewel”

The journey is everything.

Walk in the Sand isn’t just a name, it’s a philosophy and a lifestyle. I believe that life isn’t about the rush to get somewhere, but about the rhythm of each step, the feeling of earth beneath bare feet, the salt in the air, the natural world around us, the community and connections, and the gratitude that comes from slowing down and living with intention.

Whenever you feel annoyed, angry, upset or stressed, or just need a break…

“Take a Walk in the Sand!”
Slow down and breathe.
Notice the natural beauty around you.
Feel the sand between your toes.
Look out at the horizon.
Look up at the clouds in the sky.
Feel the breeze.
Smell the salty air.
Listen to the gentle waves.
Notice the shoreline and the footprints you leave behind.
And be grateful for each step.

If you can’t get to the beach, “Walk in the Sand” is the metaphor for:
Just Walk, look for beauty and joy, and be grateful for each step in your journey!

Here are some of the ways I try to live and walk this world:

Beaches and Nature

I Break for Turtles and Birds

All wildlife actually! I also break for spectacular landscapes, clouds and trees! I mean, when you see beauty, it’s worth slowing down for! Have you ever stopped and just watched the bird that just flew into your tree? Or ever really looked at the tree, the colors, the branches, the leaves? And what about those clouds. No landscape view is ever the same when clouds fill the sky!

Natural Living and Sustainability

Climate change is real, and small actions matter. I try to use all natural products, avoid plastic whenever possible, and recycle fiercely. I live small, tread lightly, and do my part to keep the world around me clean and thriving.

The beaches are my focus and my mission is to help protect this most precious coastal environment. This includes protecting the oceans so the only things washing up on shore are the things created in nature.

Living Lightly

Every footprint I leave, in sand, soil, or sea, matters. It’s how I move through the world. Happiness doesn’t come from owning more, it comes from needing less. I buy less, waste less, and reuse what I can. I keep what’s meaningful and let go of the rest.

Fewer possessions mean more peace, more space, and more freedom to breathe, dream, and live.

Freedom & Balance

I choose experiences over possessions, quiet over chaos, and space over stuff. I’m not chasing more. I’m chasing meaning, joy, peace, and sustainability for myself, my community, and the generations who will follow.

The Future for Our Children

Everything I do, I do with the next generation in mind. Every mindful step, every eco choice, every seed planted is for the children who deserve clean air, blue water, and open skies.

Bartering and Community Exchange

When it comes to community, bartering and community exchange is an awesome way to live. Trading skills, sharing resources, and helping one another is not just about saving money, it’s about balance and strengthening the ties that make a community whole. I’m always open to exchanges if you have something to trade.

Balance

Balance is not just about balancing the physical things in your life, it’s about balancing your mind and your thoughts. Every day, I choose to evolve, to be better, more mindful, and balance positive and loving thoughts and emotions whenever negative ones arise.

Reinvention

Life changes, and I’ve learned to change with it. Reinvention isn’t about starting over but about walking forward with new purpose. To live a more meaningful and kinder life. To be kinder to others and kinder to yourself.

Joy, Love, and Peace

Every day, I try to lead with love and kindness. To be present. To laugh. To let go of judgment and focus on gratitude. To live untethered and open my heart and share joy.

Keeping It Real

I’m not perfect, just passionate. I stumble and fall, I learn and grow, I laugh at the world and myself, and I keep walking.

Walk in the Sand is my reminder to live joyfully, stay grounded in gratitude, and love deeply. Every footprint tells a story, and I’m grateful to still be walking mine.

My walk in the sand journey started on the beautiful beaches of Florida, my home state, as I walked a mile on every beach.

Join me on my journey as I continue to walk the beaches of the U.S. and the world. Take a walk with me and support the mission to protect the beaches while spreading the world about your business or organization.
