When the Tide Turns

For the ones who stay the course.

You don’t always notice when the tide turns.
It doesn’t announce itself with a crash or a roar.

    It’s subtle.

    The foam inches higher.
    The shells start to shift.
The dry sand slowly disappears under rising water.

And then all of a sudden, you look up and realize the tide has come in.

That’s what it often feels like in life.

You work hard, you stay steady on a project, you raise your kids.
    Day by day you build.
Your momentum starts to grow even though you don’t see the steady rise.

Then you look up and the tide has come in.

    It wasn’t luck.
    It wasn’t magic.
It was the natural result of staying steady and waiting for the tide.

    Because tides always come in.
    That’s what they do.

And when they do, when your own tide rises, you realize something powerful:
You’re proud of who you became while steadily staying course.

“You can’t force the tide to come in faster.
It will come slowly, quietly, powerfully and right on time.” – Patti Jewel
