The Tide Takes Its Time

For the ones building something meaningful

I walked the shore this morning, watching the tide roll in.
    Slowly, steadily, without apology.

    Not in a rush.
    Not chaotic.
    Just sure of itself.

And I thought about how we build businesses, or anything, really, hoping for waves of momentum, quick wins, instant traction. But the truth is, anything lasting moves more like the tide than the wind.

    It takes its time.

There are moments of surge, full energy, forward motion, visibility. And then, there are seasons of retreat. Of reassessment. Of quiet.

And that doesn’t mean you’re failing.
    It means you’re in rhythm.

    Every tide has its pullback.
Every season of growth has its stillness.
And what you’re building? It will last longer if you honor that cycle.

I’ve learned this the hard way.
There were times I tried to force the tide, to make the sea move faster. To demand results, to hustle harder, to push against nature.

    It never worked.
It left me tired and stressed.

But when I allowed the work to unfold, day by day, choice by choice, and trusted the tide, I noticed something.
What I built became steadier. More grounded. More me.

You don’t need to go viral.
If you trust the tide and momentum you are establishing, the tide will come in.
It isn’t fast. But it is intentional.

Let the tide take its time.
    And trust the process.

“Let what you’re building rise like the tide.” – Patti Jewel
