Walk in the Sand – Scenic Highway 30A, Walton Dunes
Walton Dunes access is just west of Deer Lake Park with one access point that is a bit off the grid. This spot was one of my favorite places to walk with beach homes in one direction and Deer Lake Park in the other.
Walton Dunes access is just west of the unique and rare coastal Deer Lake. When this lake’s water level rises, it streams out to the Gulf and connects with the Gulf waters. It is a sight that is worth seeing with the brackish lake water blending with the green-blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
This day was very cool because the stream ran parallel to the shoreline for about a half a mile before connecting with the Gulf.
